Artificial jewelry, sold beside gold

Costume and artificial pieces don’t have a karat or a gold rate. Smart Jewelry POS sells them by price and quantity, right beside your gold, or runs an artificial-only shop on its own.

Artificial jewelry in Smart Jewelry POS is stock priced by a fixed sale price instead of weight and metal rate. Each piece carries a cost price, a sale price and a quantity, gets a SKU and barcode tag, can share a bill with gold pieces, and is taxed in its own bucket.

Three ways to run it

Real only, artificial only, or both

Choose the mode in settings. Changing it later never touches products you already have.

Real only

The default: every product priced by weight, karat and rate.

Artificial only

An artificial or costume shop. No metal or weight fields anywhere on the product form.

Both

A switch on each product, with your usual kind pre-selected. Filter stock lists by kind.

Simple products

Cost, price and quantity. That’s it.

An artificial piece keeps the useful parts of a product: SKU, name, category, description, size, photos, location, supplier, quantity and pieces, plus a cost price and a sale price. It prints on the same barcode tags and is found with the same scanner.

Selling part of a quantity drops the count on the same row, so twelve pairs of earrings stay one product until the last pair sells.

  • Cost and sale price on every piece
  • Quantity sold down from stock
  • Same tags, scanner and photos as gold
  • Excel import and supplier intake for artificial batches

At the till & in the books

Its own tax, its own profit

On the invoice an artificial line is price × quantity; the salesperson can change the price for that sale but never sees the cost. A third tax rate applies to artificial lines only, separate from gold and making.

The owner sees cost and margin on each product, and artificial sales show in the Profit & Loss report as sale minus cost, and as their own rows in sales-by-category.

Mixed bills

Gold and artificial on one invoice.

Own tax rate

Or untaxed, stamped per invoice.

Cost hidden

Staff see price, owners see margin.

Real profit

Sale minus cost in P&L.

Questions

Artificial jewelry FAQ

Can I use Smart Jewelry POS for an artificial jewelry shop only?

Yes. Set the shop to artificial only and every product is an artificial piece with a cost price, sale price and quantity, with no metal, karat or weight fields to fill in.

Can I sell artificial and gold jewelry on the same bill?

Yes. In “both” mode a normal invoice can mix real and artificial lines. Real lines are priced by weight and rate; artificial lines are price × quantity.

How is artificial jewelry taxed?

It has its own tax rate, separate from the gold and making rates, or none at all. The rate is stamped on each invoice when it is finalized.

Can I see the profit on artificial pieces?

Yes. Each piece carries its cost, so the owner sees cost and margin, and artificial sales count in the Profit & Loss report as sale minus cost. Cost is never shown to staff at the till.

Can I import artificial stock from Excel?

Yes. The import template supports artificial rows with cost and sale price, and photos are matched by SKU in the same way as gold pieces.
