Live gold rates that reprice your stock automatically

Gold moves every day. Smart Jewelry POS fetches the bullion price for you, works out each karat with your own markup, and every product price and new invoice follows the rate you set this morning.

Live gold rate software keeps your metal prices in step with the market without re-pricing stock by hand. Smart Jewelry POS stores a buy and a sell rate for every metal and karat you trade, fetches international bullion automatically, and uses today’s sell rate for every product estimate and new invoice line.

Four rates per metal

Bullion and local, buy and sell

Bullion has no karat and no branch, so it is kept once per metal. Local rates carry both, because a 21K sell rate in one branch may differ from another.

Bullion buy

International bid, USD per troy ounce, fetched automatically.

Bullion sell

International ask, USD per troy ounce, fetched automatically.

Local sell

Your selling rate per store, metal and karat. Seeds every product price and invoice line.

Local buy

What you pay for old gold, per store, metal and karat. Used when you buy metal from customers.

Automatic bullion

The market price, fetched for you

International buy and sell quotes for gold, silver, platinum and palladium arrive on their own throughout the day, in US dollars per troy ounce, the way bullion is quoted. If the feed is ever unavailable, your last good rate stays in place and you can still enter rates manually.

  • Gold, silver, platinum and palladium
  • Bid and ask kept separately
  • Last good rate kept if the feed is down
  • Manual entry always available

Auto-derive

Every karat from one markup

Switch on auto-derive and set a markup for each metal and karat once. When bullion or the dollar rate moves, the local rate for every karat in every store is recalculated: bullion × exchange rate × purity × your markup.

Prefer to set your own board each morning? Leave auto-derive off and type the local rates in. You can also choose which karats your shop trades, so dropdowns only show the ones you use.

  1. Bullion

USD per troy ounce, fetched automatically.

  2. × Exchange rate

Converted to your currency per gram.

  3. × Purity

22K, 21K, 18K or any karat you add.

  4. × Your markup

Per metal and karat. The result is your local rate.

Your units

Per gram, per tola, per 10 g

Prices are always calculated in grams, but your customers may think in tola. Add the units you quote in and the rates page shows them alongside the per-gram rate.

Example rates. 1 tola = 11.6638 g.

Where the rate goes

One rate change, everywhere at once

Product prices

Each product’s estimated retail price is worked out from the current rate when you open it, so nothing needs re-tagging.

New invoices

A line added to a bill starts at today’s sell rate for its metal and karat. The salesperson can still adjust it for that sale.

Old gold

When you buy metal from a customer, the local buy rate is the starting point for the appraisal.

Rate history

Every change is kept with who made it and when. Run the Rate History report for any period.

Every branch

Local rates are per store, so each branch can run its own board while bullion stays shared.

Controlled

Only managers and owners change rates. Auto-derived rates can’t be overwritten by hand by mistake.

Questions

Live gold rates FAQ

Where do the live gold rates come from?

International bullion prices for gold, silver, platinum and palladium are fetched automatically from a market data feed, as buy and sell quotes in US dollars per troy ounce. You can also type rates in by hand at any time.

How are local karat rates worked out?

If you switch on auto-derive, each local rate is calculated from the bullion price, the US dollar exchange rate, the karat’s purity and the markup you set for that metal and karat. If you prefer, you keep entering your local rates manually instead.

Can I show rates per tola?

Yes. Rates are always shown per gram, and you can add display units such as tola (11.6638 g), 10 g, kilogram or ounce. These are for display only; prices are still calculated in grams.

Can each branch have its own rate?

Yes. Local buy and sell rates are kept per store, metal and karat, so two branches can price differently. Bullion rates are shared across the business.

Is old rate history kept?

Every rate change is kept, with who changed it and when, and the Rate History report shows how rates moved over any period.
